A.B.D. — The New Mantra: Always Be Delegating

Posted in Outsourcing & Delegating Print This Print This

If you’ve read my last few posts, you can see that I’ve been delegating more, and that I have found someone to take care of a few tasks for only $4 per hour.  Fred and Chad have asked for details, so let me just announce that I’m going to be posting a FREE series of videos and maybe teleconferences (not as fun because if they’re live I have to take time away from family) covering my experiences in delegating new things as it happens.

The first week I studied my time log, I identified three things someone else could do — submitting articles, tracking newsletter statistics, and compiling the results of my time logs.

The next week I realized: I’ll need someone to enter my website/traffic statistics so that I can see how many people are coming to my site, what gets people to subscribe, etc.

Today I realized: Why not have someone compile all of my marketing stats into an easy-to-reference report each month, so I can see just how many leads, prospects, sales, $, etc my business made, and pinpoint what is working well and what needs to be fixed?   If you’re like me, you’ve tracked these essential numbers before, but the time it takes to compile it all is either a waste of time or it causes you to put it off indefinitely.

The Moral of the Story:  Always Be Delegating. Make identifying delegateable tasks, choosing a person, and getting them up and running a part of your workweek, every week.  Each Monday you can find one thing that someone else could be doing for you.  It may then take 1-2 weeks to make sure they’re doing it right, which means you’ll need to block off 1-2 hours per week for this purpose.  But you will see the time savings immediately and it will begin freeing you up 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 or more hours per week over time.
