Case Study: Alan Hires a New Assistant to Generate Revenue

This case study applies to my info marketing business, but I did the same thing with real estate assistants, plus this is currently happening and I want to give you updates in real time.
I’ve been using a time log for the last few weeks to track how I spend my time. I also took a look at where most of our revenue comes from. The answer…speaking on other people’s webinars. The charge…not spending enough time getting on other people’s webinars. The verdict…GUILTY!
Even though it is responsible for 80% of our income, I have neglected to spend enough time each week contacting other speakers and promoters and working out a deal to speak on their teleseminar or webinar series. I guess I’m so busy stuffing as much cutting-edge content into my upcoming eBook that I got distracted. Tisk, tisk.
Now, the smartest things to delegate to someone else are:
1) Things that tie up your time and keep you from doing what makes the most money
2) Things that make more money, multiplied moreso than you can do yourself
I just don’t have the time anymore, so for me, the solution was to hire Tracy, our new Joint Venture Coordinator. I used my own course, The Assistant Who Pays Their Own Salary, to find her, go through the interview process, make my decision, get oriented, and to start training.
It’s been a week now, and I feel confident that she is ready to start representing me on the phone and lining up these opportunities to market my course.
How does this apply to you?
Well, where does most of your money come from?
What causes it, and what do you have to do to generate it?
Do you know how to do that proficiently?
Are you currently doing it as much as you should be?
If not, why? What is keeping you?
If it’s because you don’t have enough time, either delegate something so you can do more of it, or train someone to do it for you. In this case, I chose the latter because most of my other time-consuming, low-results work is already outsourced to someone else.
Like I said before, trim the fat first. Then create systems that generate more income. I’ll let you know how this one goes.
